Initially designed as a response to the US military’s jeep – which saw extensive use in the second world war – the series 1 and 2 quickly found a place as the adventurer’s vehicle – a vehicle for the person looking to go off-road. Those early adventurers quickly realised the importance of protecting their spare wheels – otherwise they risked the material wearing away before being able to use them. As a result, the wheel cover was invented.
