Following on from a successful January, Jaguar Land Rover have announced record sales figures for February 2016. The company who currently employ over 4500 staff at their Halewood plant, manufacturing Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery models, saw an increase of 31% over the same period in 2015 with 37,494 vehicles sold. It also brings the total number of vehicles sold up to 83,510 for the year, an increase of 27% over the previous year.
Worldwide sales figures saw positive results in North America, Europe and China but the biggest increase was in the UK market with a rise of 84%. The demand for the Halewood-built Discovery Sport and Range Rover models in particular helped boost sales figures with a 23% increase. JLR are one of the biggest UK exporters, with 80% of the revenue generated from exports alone.
The previous five years has seen JLR double sales and employment as well as tripling their turnover with £12 billion has invested in new product creation and capital expenditure. 50 product actions are planned for the next five years and with another £3 billion set to be invested in products and facilities in Fiscal 15/16.
